In the clear, white midnight she heard songs that rang true

When the rain will pound the world outside into patterns that you knew
Where you're holy in your memory but divided on where you grew

Like the golden links worn round the necks of ancient gods
She struggles to appoint herself new servants she can rob
Of feelings they hold tightly but won't bleed unless they're caught
Or chant upon her doorstep that they need a friend to talk
